Chair's Letter - March 2025

Spring has sprung or should be very soon. A lovely time of year – the clocks change, the evenings draw out and

the snowdrops and crocuses beckon – as does the Annual

Meeting! I also know it is a busy time for you with most WI

Annual Meetings taking place this month. That means there will be 117 Presidents elected, but each of us can help our Presidents – you might not be on the committee, but helping with a few chairs, washing up, delivering a magazine or two, can make such a difference.

March also hosts International Women’s Day – 8th March – a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women. And as we should in the WI – so let’s celebrate our wonderful organisation by continuing to enjoy all the WI has to offer.

I know our subscriptions are due this month – where else would you find friendship, the chance to learn or try something new with a cup of tea, and possibly cake, for £4.60

per meeting? And we know there is much more to the WI for us all – so remember to dip into that chocolate box that makes up all aspects of the WI and savour it!

I do hope you like the front cover with the addition of our new OFWI bunting

beautifully sewn by Trine Lucy, Abingdon Fitzharrys WI.

The photo shows part of OFWI’s new range of merchandise, and we are launching these two wonderful tea towels at the Annual Meeting. Retailing at £7 – certainly a bargain and a

must for all kitchens!

And one other fact for you about March – the popular board game of Monopoly was invented but can you tell me which year? Do email me!

I look forward to welcoming many of you to the Annual Meeting at Worton Hall on the 19th March.

With love and best wishes.
